Types of Pool Copings
An effective way to separate your pool from an existing pool decking or surround, pool coping types come in various materials.
- Stone – A solid and durable choice, stone is a secure material that can withstand heavy use whilst providing a non-slip surface to keep you and others safe.
- Concrete – Available as either poured concrete or precast concrete, both have their benefits. This includes a seamless finish for poured concrete as it’s created with a mould around the shape of the pool, whilst precast concrete has more design combinations using different colours.
- Brick – Versatile in colour and size, bricks are a natural-looking option that can complement a range of pool designs, whilst having the qualities to withstand chlorinated water without the need for regular maintenance.
- Pavers – Perfect for salt-water swimming pools, pavers are easy to replace and provide a consistent look that will not be affected by chlorine, helping maintain its pristine finish.
- Tile – Resistant to mildew and mould porcelain tiles are a non-porous material which is great for pools with high traffic and will not fade in the sun. Plus their elegant appearance creates a luxury look for a great first impression.
Pool Coping Installation
As with any type of pool installation, it’s essential to rely on the knowledge and expertise of a professional team such as Lovett Pools who understand the importance of properly installed pool copings for longevity and safety. We’ll begin with a consultation to discuss what you’d like to achieve. Then the installation will be carried out with five particular steps. The first is to lay the coping foundation, as with any construction this ensures that the ground is compact, even and has a solid base. Once the foundation has set we’ll prepare the beam before laying the coping material as chosen by you and placed to your exacting sizing. Finally, we’ll secure the coping with an adhesive before applying a material to aid the expansion joint blend.
